Watching the dynamics and how things played out was very insightful. It was very successful and everyone really enjoyed it. For our purposes, the take-always were that everyone works and processes information differently. This is a cute book for kids- where the story is "told" in pictures that ZOOM out as the book progresses.

This was used as a team-building activity in a teacher training, and I have since used it with my high school students in a similar fashion. If you remove the pages from the binder and give each student a page, instruct them to keep their "card" page to themselves and not show anyone else. They must describe their page to their classmates as they move around, asking questions of each other. They must figure out where they fit in with the other cards in the room.

It builds questioning skills, problem-solving skills, tells you and them who will be the natural leaders in a group, and is a good way to get high school kids up and moving around the classroom. When they think they are in order, we have them reveal the pictures one-at-a-time, so they can see the story unfold.

Sometimes they want to re-order themselves once they figure out it's a Zoom out progression. I love the book and the activity that someone has developed from it. I attended a workshop at the Yale Center for British Art and there were many excellent activities for teachers to use in their classrooms.

One of the exercises involved this book. It is useful to develop students' organizational and observational skills as well as getting them to work together to solve a problem they have never seen before! I cut out the pages and will laminate them to distribute to my classes. It's a great way to engage all learners and make math fun! I have both books and posted this review in Rezoom as well. This is a gorgeous book; you can keep looking at the images for a long time and see new things.

I actually use the book in class; I teach a subject that required a non-linear perspective, but rather I have to get the students to see things from a Macro to Micro perspective, not in a this happens then this happens. This book has been very successful in helping that process to occur. I actually disassemble the book, laminate the pages, and can adjust for it groups taking out some of the pages for the activity. I will not allow the students to show one another the pages, but instead, they have to describe what they think is important.

Most students, based on how they have been taught to think, will describe the scene in terms of events of what is occurring, giving little emphasis to the detail of the images. Instead, about ten minutes in I let the students know that sometimes a story does not start where they think it starts; some cultures value emphasis on events or things over being linear.

Then, after a bit more time, I let the students know the name of the book; which clues them in a little bit. Finally, I let the students show one another the pages, which they then put in order pretty quickly. A lot of times we are trained to see things a certain way, but not all people and cultures are that way.

This book is great for that type of activity and lesson to teacher. I'm a therapist and a patient of mine brought this book to my attention. After borrowing it for a week, I had to buy 7 copies for myself as well as family and colleagues.

Ostensibly it's a children's book but I've found that the older you get and the more life experiences one has, the more meaningful and relevant this book is. So often we talk about "perspective" but just what is "perspective". This books is a great visual guide to help not only myself but others get a feeling of what ones perspective can be as well as other's perspectives too. It's been a great tool not only for myself but for others I've shared it with too.

I often ask myself "what page am I on"? If you think you can see the forest for the trees, spend 15 minutes with this book and I'm sure you will re-evaluate your perspective on things. So often I'll tell people that it's not so much what page you're on but that you understand there are pages before and ahead of you, all of which are equally important.

A great addition to anyone's life and library. Came across this several years ago in a workshop. Bought a couple of the books and started conducting the exercise at the company for whom I worked. Got a new job, put them away, hadn't thought about them for at least 5 years. Working on a project now and this came to mind, thought it might be good to use. Looked through my old materials and came up short. In this day and time, with societal sensitivities rampant, there are 3 or 4 ethnically stereotypical pages that could create some problems.

This is a great team building activity. I cut the pages out and had my team put the story together by having them describe the images to each other instead of showing them. Great lessons and a great way to get your team going and motivated. Used this book recently for a corporate training gig with 30 people.

It went really well and helped drive home a good point. I cut all the pages out and gave each person one. Without showing anybody else their picture, the group had to figure out what the order was. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. Used it for a team building exercise at work. Cut out the pages and divided into 2 parts.

Challenged the groups to see which got it in order first. Also - interesting to watch group interactions as they try to figure it out. As a group exercise, the person describes their picture - but the others can't see it. They have to arrange themselves in order. It was fund. I bought this after I'd been a participant in a training event where we did some group work using these pictures.
